I've secretly been loving Kendall's shadow for the last several months. Often when we're walking hand in hand I wish I could stop what we're doing, grab my camera and catch our shadows together as mommy and daughter. But I usually don't... The shadows are so sweet. I want to bottle them up and keep them forever because she's just so small, and growing so fast... Everyone tells you your babies are only little for so long... Boy, are they right.

Self Portrait...
I'm glad I have a wide angle lens. I honestly don't use it a ton--mainly just for location overview shots and self portraits--but it's a good thing to have in your bag. These were taken one night while I was editing. Kendall crawled up to sit with me and fell asleep. There's some distortion going on but that's OK. I'd rather have the memory than perfection... Besides, how else am I supposed to get in the pics? ;)

I just love silhouette shots. This pic was taken at dusk in Loreto, Mexico. For more pictures and the full story on my trip go HERE.

Quiet...
I like "quiet" photos. Like this one of my daughter taken recently under sunnier skies... Oh, how is she so big already?

Piano...
I love piano solo music. Sometimes I listen to it when I drive. I find it very soothing and relaxing, each note sounds so full and golden. Someday, I will learn how to play... One photography tip I always keep in mind is getting on the same level as your subject. It completely changes your perspective and brings the image to life. Like this pic of my niece playing piano.

Shoes...
I've always loved shoe shots for as long as I can remember. These little silver ballet slippers are so cute...

Boots...
Sometimes you take a photo that's beyond random but you end up loving it. Like this one of Kendall. It's way past her bedtime and she's running around in her galoshes and snow hat but I just love everything about it... :)

Joy...
I took lots of pics of Kendall playing in the snow during Seattle's snowstorm but this image was my favorite by far. It's in no way technically perfect--my husband is blurry from the low shutter speed, it was at dusk and light was fading fast--but I love it because it really captures Kendall's personality right now. Fun. Happy. And full of Joy... She is truly a ray of sunshine, even on a dark winter day.

Pretty Snow...
Seattle had a huge snowstorm about a week ago. We got close to 10 inches at our house (although I forgot to document most of it, oop-sies). But here's a pic of some driveway lanterns we saw on one of our snowy walks... Snow is pretty. For a little while anyway :)

Being someone's mommy is a lot of work...
"Being someone's mommy is a lot of work..." is what I was thinking at 1:42am this morning while trying to get Kendall back to sleep after she woke up with tummy ache. But I didn't mind. :) Being a mommy is a whole lotta work, more than anyone or anything could ever really prepare you for. But it's also very worth it. And I just love her...
(And in case you were wondering, this wasn't taken last night) :)

Finally, a post!
So. I am finally at a place where I have time for personal blogging again. I am just not sure I have time for three blogs... Which means this blog may be biting the dust. BUT, I am not totally sure yet so please check back here from time to time. While I'm deciding if I should keep this blog or combine it with my professional site I WILL be blogging (Gasp! Can you believe it??) on my family site, www.robandnetters.blogspot.com as well as my business one, www.lanettemariephotography.com, so check there for updates right now. And of course what is a post without pics? Here is my beautiful little girl, Kendall, 20 months, enjoying some winter sun before Seattle got hit with snow last week.

I can honestly say...
I have no idea where the last year has gone.
Today my baby was a baby for the last time.
Tomorrow is her one year birthday.
And I'm in complete and utter disbelief.

A Random Thought...
Streets named after people.
They must have been a good person for a street to be named after them. But it also usually means they're dead. Why can't we name a street after someone because they're great yet still alive?
Oh, the things I think about...

Wishful Thinking...
Wish I was here right now instead of stuck behind my desk at work. A sunny day at the beach and a cocktail... Ahhh, a girl can dream can't she?
