Things we saw at Folklife...

Saw some interesting things at Folklife... Lots of people walking around offering free hugs for sale (although most of them you wouldn't want hugs from!) Saw entertainers and artists, clowns and Japanese Geisha dancers to name a few. But most of all we saw a lot of musicians. All different types and genres, playing alone or in little groups. Hoping for some exposure and extra cash from tips and cd sales.

Things for Sale at Folklife...

There were lots of things on display from the Folklife vendors. I actually didn't buy anything but there was a ton to look at. Like funky homemade hippie candles, bracelets and beads, woven baskets and colorful clothing. It's a flea market lovers dream...

Cute Dogs at Folklife...

Saw some cute dogs at Folklife. The little ones have to be careful they don't get stepped on! Some were tied up and left to hang in the shade while their owners wandered around. They looked longingly at everything going on around them... And don't forget the dogs wearing clothes... But tell me, is a hoodie really neccesary when it's 70 degrees outside?

Near the Needle...

Right before leaving Folklife we walked over to the Space Needle, checked out the gift shop and took a couple pics near it's base. The fountain is right in front of the Needle. I like the B&W pic of my mom and brother. They look happy.

Seattle Space Needle...

Umm, yeah... Got a little obsessive taking pics of the Space Needle that day... But it just goes to show that things look different depending on where you stand! The first pic is Chad trying to take down the Needle... He always does goofy stuff like that in pictures...

Frankie the Yellow Chick...

Was the only thing I bought in Leavenworth. The store owner told me his name is Bob because when you touch him he bobs around. But I'm married to a Rob and my father-in-law's name is Bob so I figured we have enough Bob's in the family already. I named him Frankie. He sits on our kitchen windowsill and helps me do the dishes. Sometimes he bobbles around when we leave the window open. I think he's happy here.

I Like Ike...

Another fun old car. Saw it in Leavenworth and thought the license plate was oldschool cool. I wonder who this belongs to. I wonder if it's an old man with white hair who used to be cool in his prime and is still super proud of his ride. And likes to shine up the chrome and take his wife of 50 years out every weekend for a Sunday drive. Maybe not. But he liked Ike and I like his car.

Leavenworth...

So after our flat tire fiasco we finally made it to Leavenworth. It's a little Bavarian themed town nestled in the mountains on Highway 2 about 30 miles before you hit Wenatchee. The weather was awesome that day, mid 80's, I loved it. My mom, Chad and I did some window shopping, admired the cute Bavarian buildings, checked out the street fair and petted the horses that give carriage rides through the city. We finished the afternoon with a beer and a Brat (it's Leavenworth, you gotta!!) before heading back home in our wounded vehicle.

Bavarian Bakery...

If you know me then you know my affinity for all things Periwinkle. So I was thrilled when we got to Leavenworth and we fell upon a Gi-Normous Periwinkle mixer outside the Bavarian Bakery. The heavens opened. It was love at first sight. And knowing me, I just had to take a pic. Or two.

Got a Flat...

On our drive to Leavenworth my mom's car picked the perfect time to get a flat. It's a good thing Chad was there to fix it! I know I'm supposed to know how to change a tire but let's be honest...It's been a while, I don't care to re-learn, and hopefully if I ever get a flat by myself my cell phone will work, I won't be on a deserted road in the middle of nowhere and some nice (non Ted Bundy-esque) guy will come and save me. But anyway, we had a flat right beside a beautiful flowing river and my brother saved the day. The rest of our drive to Leavenworth and back was a pain. We could only drive 50 mph on the spare on a one lane highway... So yep, we were THAT car holding everyone up... Hope you weren't behind us!

Stevens Pass...

So these are going back quite a ways... When Chad was in town visiting we drove up to Leavenworth over Memorial Day Weekend. It was such a beautiful day out! On the drive over we stopped real quick at Steven's Pass Ski Area. Here's the clock tower down by the main lodge...

Chad, Mom and the Mountains...

I never knew a ski rack could look so cool...

A Daddy's Love...

We went to Ryan and Tierra's house the other night for dinner and to hang out with R/T and their two cuties, Grace & Matthew. The garage door was open when we got there so we walked through the garage to get inside. That's when I noticed something that made me smile. Someone had written "I Love Grace" in big letters on the cement garage wall amidst some gardening tools. It was so cute. Initially I thought it was written by Tierra but come to find out that Ryan wrote it about two years ago right after they moved in! Very sweet!

Snoqualmie Falls...

Went to Snoqualmie Falls recently with Rob and our friends Kevin and Carley. Hubby wasn't interested in posing (at all!) but you can check out Kevin, Carley and The Falls at www.robandnetters.blogspot.com

Just because I liked it...

I saw this old car driving around a few weeks ago. It was so bright and yellow. Three men taking it out for a spin on a sunny summer's day. I'm not even into cars but if I had a cool, old yellow car like this I'd definitely take it on a Sunday drive.

07.08.09

Don't know if you noticed it or not but today is one of those cool calendar days... 07/08/09. And since I play with numbers all day long I noticed it a lot. Every time I typed it I fell in love. Wish it was my birthday though. That would make it even cooler.

A Cause for Celebration...

It's the Fourth of July! While I know we all appreciate what this day means to our country (and let's be real--the extra day off work!) I'm looking forward to some awesome weather today, good BBQ and a fun time with friends. Hope you have a great Fourth as well. Be safe!
